What If You Cant Lose Weight-Takes Effort And Believing In Yourself

Some people seem to have an easier time of losing weight than others. If you are reading this, then it’s a safe bet that you are one of the people who seemingly can’t lose weight. As you will see, the vast majority of people like us really can lose weight; it may not always be easy, but it is possible if you are willing to do whatever it takes to shed some excess weight for good.

NOTE: You should always talk to your doctor before starting any weight loss program. There is a slight possibility that you have a medical condition that is causing you to be overweight, and your doctor will be able to help determine if that’s the case.

One of the most important things you need to do is convince yourself that it really is possible for you to lose weight. A good way to do this is to read a lot of weight loss success stories. You will find that there are a lot of people who weighed more than you and had even more difficult circumstances, and yet they were able to lose weight. If they can do, you can too. Changing your mindset is overlooked by most weight loss plans, but it is especially important if you currently think you can’t lose weight.

You know yourself better than anyone else, and that means you need to find a weight loss plan that will work for you. While your family and friends may have found success with a certain diet, that doesn’t mean that you will. For example, if you absolutely know that you have to eat ice cream, then find a diet that includes ice cream; whatever works for you.

Another thing you need to do is be completely honest with yourself. Are you really trying to lose weight? What have you tried? How often have you cheated on the weight loss plans you have tried? Are you lazy? Are you following the wrong plan? Do you really, really want to lose weight? Now, these questions are not meant to accuse you of anything, but rather to help you take a look at yourself. There are no wrong answers to these questions, so answer them honestly and then use the answers to help you lose weight.

If you really feel that you can’t lose weight, then you need to assess your current situation. Look for the areas that are causing you trouble and find a solution. For example, if you find that you’re always stopping at the drive-through to get a double cheeseburger after work, then find a new route home that doesn’t have a fast food place. If you are being honest with yourself, then you should be able to zero in on a few areas where you can make improvements.

Remember, you really can lose weight. It’s will take effort and commitment, but it can be done. Keep trying and you will eventually find success.

Weight Loss Without The Cost

I am sure you have seen the many advertisements out there for one weight loss program or another and they all are promoting weight loss in a matter of weeks. These advertisements are ranging from the simple every day diet programs to surgical procedures. I am sure you are also well aware of the one thing that these all have in common, the sky high cost.

Helping people lose weight and achieve an ideal body shape is a money making business today due to the massive demand. The gyms you may join, dieticians with hefty bills, and also the food that many of the programs suggest come with a hefty price tag. Achieving a healthy weight loss is not that hard so there is no reason why you cannot achieve the same results from these diet programs on your own and save money while doing it.

1.Know the basics-

If you want to make your own diet charts, as well as your very own exercise program, it is important that you know the science to healthy weight loss. While healthy weight loss is mainly about calorie intake it also entails the distribution of those various calories throughout the day. There are also certain conditions that you may have that may be a deterrent to your weight loss goals. In this case you will need to contact your doctor before you begin. There are several resources on the internet today such as calorie counters which can be downloaded for free and used for easy reference.

2. No gain without a little pain-

Starving should not be part of your weight loss program instead, you should practice restrictive eating. The amount of the restriction will depend on the extent of the foods that are in your diet and it will be something you need to maintain the rest of your life. You will have to give up certain foods however to reach your ideal weight goals.

3.Use it or lose it-

If you are one of the many that looks at exercise as one of those unpleasant chores that you must do, you need to be able to develop a better attitude. There are certain exercises that you do every day without even knowing about them such as playing with your kids, beach workouts, and yes even sex are good forms and fun ways of burning off those excess calories. These are the activities that are not only good for toning your body but also gives you a high like no alcohol could do and as a result you are not putting any harmful toxins into your body.

These are all great ways for you to shed those excess pounds and they are a lot cheaper than some of those that are available today. If you are trying to lose weight, but are on a tight budget; give these ideas a try.

Weight Loss Tricks-Truthfully There Are No Tricks

We live in a time when many of us are looking for an “angle” in pretty much everything we do. We seem to think that there is always some sort of trick that can make a tough task easier. If you want to know some useful weight loss tricks I have put together this article for just that purpose.

I do want to make it clear that when I say weight loss tricks I’m not talking about things that will help you lose weight without having to do anything or make any changes. I am talking about some things that can help you accelerate your success.

One thing you do need to take care of first is to talk to your doctor. If you have any underlying health issues make sure that you ask your doctor for recommendations on diet and exercise plans also ask what, if any, restrictions you may have.

So, what tricks can you use to help speed up your weight loss and get more results more quickly? Well, here you go:

1. Start your weight loss off on the right foot. Make sure that you understand that losing weight will take time…. period. You will not lose 20 or more pounds of body fat in just a few days and you won’t keep it off when you lose it unless you make permanent changes to your diet and exercise habits.

But, that does not mean that you can’t lose up to 10 lbs. very quickly with a fast or a cleanse. While most of this weight loss will be water weight, it can still be a good way to flush toxins from your system and it can make you more psychologically prepared for the weight loss changes.

Bottom line, doing either a fast or a cleanse won’t be the way you will lose 20 lbs. or more, but it may be a good way to get some quick weight loss and help you get even more motivated to lose weight and get in better shape.

2. Drink water. I know you hear that all the time but are you drinking more water, enough water? If this is one of those tips that have gone in one ear and out the other, knock it off.

Pay attention. Your body needs water. If you don’t keep it hydrated your whole body and all it’s functions will be impacted in a bad way.

Water will not only keep your body hydrated but it can keep toxins flushed which will help too. Also, drinking plenty of water will make your feel much more full much more quickly.

That means that if you drink a glass of water before a meal, you will probably eat less since the water will fill you up. Just another benefit of drinking plenty of water.

3. Eat more fruits and vegetables. This is another tip you have probably heard and ignored too but you need to listen to it.

Just by adding some fruits and vegetables to your daily diet you can keep your body nourished but another benefit is that you will fill up more quickly.

That means you will get less calories from other less nutritious foods.

There you go, some great weight loss tricks. It may sound easy, but you don’t need to make it harder than it has to be. Use these tricks and you will see results.

Weight Loss Medicine-Society Leads Us To Believe Science Is The Answer

We live in a society where we are led to believe that modern science can provide answers to all our questions and concerns. One of those things is weight loss medicine, so should you even consider using some sort of medication?

Well, the truth is that much of what we are led to believe about the benefits of taking a weight loss medicine is just slick advertising. If you are seriously considering taking this route, make sure you talk to your doctor fist.

It is very important to ask about the potential side effects you can expect. They can vary from one mediation to another and not everyone will have all of these side effects but you must know what is possible.

Most types of medications will really only be viable for short term use. That is something you must also take into consideration. If you can realistically only take a certain medication for a short time frame, what will happen when you stop taking it?

Will you stop losing weight as quickly, or stop losing weight altogether? Will you gain back what you have lost?

As you may have figured out already, I’m not a big fan of using medications for weight loss.

The only exception to this rule is if you are taking medications to help you get a quick start with your weight loss efforts but are still making needed diet and exercise changes.

Basically, the medication is simply a way to help you gain momentum by getting some results more quickly. But, you must also have every intention of making changes with your diet and exercise.

To me, that is the most logical way to use a weight loss medication: as a short term supplement to the other changes you are making.

That way, you don’t have to worry about regaining your weight when you go off the medicine. Instead, you know that you have made changes so you can reasonably expect to keep the weight off once you’ve lost it.

Other than medications, you can also eat better by eating more lean protein, fresh fruit and vegetables, drinking more water and maybe lowering the amount of carbohydrates you get in your diet.

Combining all these things will make it possible for you to actually eat more while still losing weight. Another benefit is that you can increase your metabolism which means you can also lose more weight, more quickly.

In effect, you are simply giving your body what it needs to run at it’s best instead of a lot of empty calories. That way you are working with your body instead of against it. That is a much easier way to go.

I actually had that experience myself. I started eating 6 small meals daily. They were the proper portion size as well as made up mostly of fresh vegetables and lean protein. I lost 10 lbs. in one week!

So, if you are considering using weight loss medicine to loss those extra pounds and that unwanted body fat, first talk to your doctor and second, consider these points. Make sure your expectations are realistic for your best chance of success.

Weight Loss Medications-Beware Of Side Effects

It may sound like a life saver using weight loss medications, but before you head off to your doctor for a prescription, you may want to read this article first.

You see all weight loss medications have some side effects. The exact side effects will vary from person to person as well as from one medication to another.

You will need a prescription for many, but even with over the counter medications you need to always talk to your doctor to make sure you can and should take any type of pills to aid in your weight loss.

At the minimum, you should only plan on using any drugs for as short of a time as possible to achieve your goals.

Even though these drugs can have a lot of possibly severe side effects, if you are morbidly obese the damage being done to your system on a daily basis might make it worth the risk to try things that can help you lose weight more quickly.

Again, only you and your doctor can decide if the rewards outweigh the possible risks.

Here are some of the possible side effects you may experience depending on what type of medications you take:

Diarrhea, vomiting, dizziness, light headedness, “oily” bowel movements, raised blood pressure, increased heart rate, rectal leakage, stomach pain, bloating, gas, headaches, mood swings, depression, anxiety, low libido, nervousness, constipation, insomnia, and restlessness… to name a few.

As you can see, there are many possible side effects from these types of medications.

Of course, you won’t get them all and you may not get any of them, but you do need to be aware that there are possible dangers with any type of pill whether it’s prescribed by your doctor or sold over the counter.

Several years ago, I had to lose about 35 lbs. after my kids were born. I didn’t even consider using drugs. I just started working out and as I started to see some progress I was hooked.

I not only started doing even more exercises and increase my fitness routines, I also started to eat better (only a little bit because I do love my sweets!).

It really wasn’t all that hard to do to be honest. Sure, it took several months but the truth is that after I started to see some results it really just became part of my everyday life.

I found that once it became part of my lifestyle, that was it… I just kept doing it and I lost all my weight and kept it off.

And to be honest, that’s what you need to do to. The best solution is to change your habits. If you get overwhelmed, you can start small. You don’t need to make a lot of sweeping changes all at once.

The best way to lose your weight, and more importantly, keep it off, is to make changes to your lifestyle that you can live with for the rest of your life.

That is another possible problem with medications, they are really only temporary and you can’t keep taking them forever. So, what happens when you stop?

Talk to your doctor to learn more about weight loss medications but ideally, you will want to only take them for a short time to kick start your weight loss.

Ways To Lose Weight Fast

Losing weight fast has probably been on your mind at one time or another. Maybe there is a special event that you would like to lose weight for such as a wedding. You probably also already know that there are literally hundreds and hundreds of hyped up diets out there that will claim to you that they can help you lose weight fast.

Many of these diets are total scams, or they are dangerous, or a mixture of both of these elements. The best way for you or anyone else for that matter to lose weight is to eat right, exercise, and do not stress over the little stuff. You can also try these few simple and easy tips to reach your goals a little quicker and safer.

First of all you need to do a mental check. You need to make sure that your mind is set on losing the weight. You need to tell your body and your mind that you cannot eat the junk food, sugars, and anything that contains saturated fat. Also you will need to train your mind that you are not allowed to cheat on the diet. You will also need plenty of discipline when it comes to losing weight fast. If you are serious then you need to set your mind to it because it is your only choice besides Liposuction.

Next you will need to change your eating habits if you are truly serious about losing those few extra pounds. You need to eat 5-6 small meals a day versus 3 big ones. These foods should consist of plenty of fruits and vegetables. Also you need to be sure you are eating lean meat, protein and also whole grains.

Your body will need all the fruits, proteins, and lean meat you can throw at it. Starvation is not the answer it will just lead to serious health issues. Instead eat an extra serving of fruits and vegetables to get the weight off safely and quickly. This will provide your body with the extra fuel that it will need for your exercise and other daily activities that you perform.

Cardio exercises are another great way for you to lose the weight fast. You should try and push yourself to the limit at least once a day. There are a number of different ways that you are able to do this such as elliptical, swimming, running, or ride a bike among others. You must work up a sweat to be able to shed those pounds.

You can also try aerobics, weight lifting, and walking for other forms of not so strenuous workouts. No matter what type of exercise that you are performing the more sweat you can create the more weight you are going to lose.

It is not easy to lose weight fast but if you push yourself to the limits it can be done. You just need to set your mind to the “I can do it” frame of mind.

Ways To Loose Weight-Leave It To Your Doctor

There are many ways to loose weight, it’s up to you and your doctor to determine which one of these option(s) will work the best for you.

When it comes to ways to loose weight you can choose medications, either prescription or over the counter. You can choose to use natural supplements or you can choose to simply make alterations to your daily routine.

I’m not a doctor and you should talk to your doctor for advice as well as to determine if you have any restrictions and how to overcome them.

But, I can tell you how I did it and it worked great for me so it will probably work great for you too.

First of all, I started working out. I had some workout equipment in my basement and that is where I began. I won’t lie… it was hard at first.

It took me several weeks before I started seeing results and during that time it took everything I had to keep going. You will find this too. At first, it will take a lot of effort and you will probably be sore and tired.

It will be very easy for you to give up, but don’t because once you get past this phase things get easier… a lot easier.

There is nothing better than the first time after you start working out when you go to put on some jeans and you notice that they are looser!

Once you get to the point where your body is more used to the workouts and they aren’t as hard on you, and you start seeing results, you will probably become hooked, I was.

After that point it was smooth sailing. Now that’s not to say that my workouts weren’t hard work or that I never felt sore or worked up a sweat, it just means that even with all that I felt invigorated and the idea of stopping never again entered my head.

If you can stick with it long enough to reach that point, probably a few weeks, than you too may find that you are hooked and you won’t even consider giving up.

But, how do you find the discipline to stick with it that long? Well, for me it was by finding a workout that I actually liked right from the start.

I think that is the trick, try to find some sort of physical activity that you like, or at least that doesn’t sound horrible. Hey, it doesn’t have to be some hardcore workout, it can be a line dancing class or video.

If you can find something that you actually like to do, it will make it much easier to stay with it until you have gotten over the hump and are starting to see some results. Form that point on, it will be much easier staying with it.

Ways to loose weight can be as easy as just making some simple changes to your routine. Be willing to start small and give it all the time it needs and you can have success too.

Truth About Cant Lose Weight Myth

If you’re reading this it means you and I both have run up against that “cant lose weight myth”, but we both chose to believe it. It wasn’t our fault though, because our parents, friends, loved ones, co-workers and even people who didn’t like us, were quick to tell us to give it up, you will never lose weight.

You were taunted with sayings like “Fatty, Fatty, 2 By 4 you can’t fit through the bathroom door. All of this because you were overweight and it didn’t matter what you did, it seemed you couldn’t get it off. In todays society that is considered bullying and can have very serious consequences in school.

Stop believing right now that you cant lose weight. I’m here to tell you that it’s a myth and you can lose weight I did.

I weighed well over 220 pounds (I was small boned and only 5’6″, had high blood pressure, borderline diabetic and my personal life was in a total melt down. I couldn’t hold a job because of my health problems and the people I tried to work with were worse than children about me being overweight.

Shortly thereafter I was watching the Dr. Phil show and he was talking to people just like you and me. You know the “fat ones”. He told those folks they had to stop believing they couldn’t lose weight. Right then is when I realized that was precisely what was stopping me. I believed I can’t lose weight.

What Dr Phil said made more and more sense. To make a long story short what he said was you have to believe you can lose weight and would have to change your lifestyle to accomplish the weight loss goals.

The first step was to go to your doctor and have him check you out to make sure you can start an exercise program. Contact a friend and become accountable and for help with the reprogramming of your mind and reaching the weight loss goals.

This is not easy. But when you lose the weight it is well worth it. You will lose weight and gain self confidence and a positive attitude toward life. It is important to keep working on it so you will keep the weight off. Dont be hard on yourself if you slip now and again. Just get back up and start again. The myth that you cant lose weight is just that a myth.

Tips To An Honest Weight Loss Strategy

Fast weight loss seems to be all the rage these days but the question is can you do it? Losing weight is definitely a challenge for you to undertake because you are probably doing it against your will, habits that have been built over several years, and against your genes. So what will it take for you to lose weight? Although you may think that you can do not do it because of the above reasons you need to realize that yes you can. There are several tips that can help you develop an honest weight loss strategy that will work for you.

1. Attitude
*The first thing you need to do is develop an “I can do it” attitude. Without this attitude you might as well throw in the towel now. You need to work hard at building and maintaining that attitude and do not give up. Instead you need to try and relax and set your mind to doing it. Try visualizing yourself once you have reached your goal. Think about how good you will feel and how healthy you will be.

2. Support system
*The next thing that you need is a good support system or a team if you will. This will give you even more motivation if you have a good support system of family and friends who will stand behind you the whole way. There will also be less risk of you giving up if you have a strong backing of support. You might even want to consider joining others that have the same goal in mind as you. There are even good forums on the internet today that can offer you support along your way. These forums help provide you with strength and determination to move you forward.

3.Gear and tools
* This is a very important step as it will help you stay focused from beginning to end. You need to be aware of how you are going to achieve your weight loss goal. Also you will need to supply yourself with the right foods and supplements that will aide you along the way. You need to be sure that you have all of these things and others that you may think of or those others have suggested keeping you going to that golden finish line.

4. Schedule
* You will need to also set a schedule and an overall time goal. Your weight loss goal will take time and cannot be achieved over night. You need to make a goal that is both ideal and realistic to you and mark it on a calendar somewhere that you will see it every day. This will help your mind stay focused and visualize the finish line.

5. Fun
* The most important thing for you to remember is to have fun. You need to remember that you are doing this for yourself and possibly your health. Having fun while doing it will make it seem like less of a chore.

These are just some of the tips to a successful weight loss strategy. You need to remember to keep your goal in mind and you will be well on your way to your weight loss goals.

Tips On Losing Weight-You Have Heard It All Before It Takes A Plan

If you are interested in losing weight, whether a little or a lot, I have some very helpful tips on losing weight.

What I may not have are tips on losing weight that are 100% unique to you. The truth is that most people already know what they have to do to lose weight… they just don’t want to.

Many of us view weight loss as a hard and long process. Because of this, we don’t even try.

What we will do, in many cases, is continue to search for that “simple” method that we just know has to exist.

If you have done this, don’t beat yourself up, many of us have done it too. If you don’t believe me, just look to the multi million dollar a year weight loss industry.

From pills to gadgets it seems like they are always coming out with something “new” to help us win the battle of the bulge.

If no one was buying these things, there wouldn’t be an industry so you know it’s not just you.

So, are there things that might be able to (really) make the weight loss a little faster and / or a little easier? Yes, there are.
These things can be of help but do yourself a favor and make sure you fully understand and accept the fact that these are only tools that can help a sound plan, they won’t do it all for you with no changes on your part.

Before you start off on any type of diet and exercise plans you should talk to your doctor first.

If you aren’t healthy enough or you have some limitations, you need to know about it before you start and not after you’ve injured yourself.

The more overweight and out of shape you are, the more you will have to allow your body time to ease into your workouts.

If you try to do too much too soon you are likely to cause injuries that will only slow you down more in the long run.

You don’t want to strain yourself to the point where you can’t do anything else for a few weeks.

If you do, it will be just like starting all over again… and who wants that?

Also, understand that there can be what I like to call an “exercise hump”.

This is the first weeks where you feel horrible, you are working hard but you aren’t seeing any results.

This is the time when many people give up. But, if you can get past the hump to the point where it isn’t as hard and you can actually start seeing some results, you will be much more likely to be able to stay with it for the long term and really achieve all your weight loss goals.

And, if you combine a reasonable, healthy eating plan with a reasonable and healthy workout plan and possibly (only with your doctors approval) a supplement that can help you speed up the process, you can get over this hump more quickly than you could without all of these components.

So, my best tips on losing weight is to do everything that you can to speed up the time it takes you to get over the hump. The sooner you see results the sooner you will be hooked.

Tips For Losing Weight

Years ago I was about 50 lbs. over weight. It was mostly extra weight that I put on during my pregnancies. After I had my kids I lost some of the “baby weight” but not all of it. So I was interested in losing the rest and finding tips for losing weight.

Back then there weren’t nearly as many (though there were some) supplements and pills to take to help me lose weight. I instead relied on getting as much information as I could and relying on asking friends for tips for losing weight.

The funny thing was that when I started losing the weight and getting toned and starting to look really good, people would ask me how I did it. Even casual acquaintances would tell me that I looked great and ask me how I did it.

I remember how surprised (and disappointed) they seemed to be when I told them that my “secret” was eating better and getting more exercise. I truly believe they were hoping I was going to tell them about some great pill or shot or something that I had which made it all easy!

So, here are some of the techniques I used for my weight loss. These “secrets” will help you if you put them to use. No, it’s not all going to be quick and easy but it won’t be that hard either. Get your head in the right places and be willing to give it some time:

1. In my opinion one of the biggest mistakes that you can make it so try to do too much too soon. Some people will set them self up for failure because they will try to make such extreme changes that it will be very close to impossible to stick to them.

To give yourself the best chance of success, pick one thing to focus on first. So, instead of trying to totally change your life in one fell swoop, why not increase your odds of success by picking just one thing.

My friend decided she was going to cut back on the amount of pop she drank. So, she decided she would only have one pop a day. Cutting back wasn’t all that hard, but it did require some discipline.

In just one month she lost 10 pounds just cutting back on the amount of pop she drank! Don’t tell me you can’t do something like that too.

2. Next, try to pick on e aspect of your exercise to work on. If you are currently not doing any regular exercise, now is the time to start. So, why not make just one small change? Go for a walk daily for the next month. Don’t change anything else. Do just that one thing and see how much weight you have lost in a month. I’ll bet you will be surprised at the end of one month.

Not only will you likely see some weight loss, you will probably also start to feel stronger, less stiff and not get tired as easily.

I think too many people set them self up for failure when it comes to weight loss. Use these tips for losing weight and be willing to start small for your best chance of success.

Running Weight Loss

There are many things that you can do to lose weight and get healthier. Ideally, you will want to combine both diet and exercise but more specifically you can use running weight loss.

But, you can ‘t just go out and start running weight loss if you are out of shape. You will want to start slowly and follow some simple tips to get the most out of all your diet and exercise goals.

And, don’t forget, that you need to remember that whatever changes you make you will want to continue to make them from here on. This isn’t a temporary thing, and it shouldn’t be thought about in that way.

If you don’t make all you eating and exercise changes a permanent part of your life, you will eventually gain all your weight back.

So, here are some ideas of what you can do to help use running to lose weight:

1. First of all, you must have a long conversation with your doctor before you start any type of exercise program. It’s important that you work with your doctor so she can monitor your health. Getting in shape is good for you, but if you are out of shape you have to be a little more careful when you first get started.

2. Next, find some comfortable shoes. This is important since your feet will take a lot of pounding when you run. You shouldn’t try to cheap out here either. There is real technology that goes into many of these shoes but it does cost. Still, though, if it keeps your knees, feet and ankles in better shape it will be worth it.

3. Remember that with all your exercise programs, running or not, you will need to change the intensity. If you run at the same pace the whole time your body will eventually get used to that level of intensity. It is important to ramp up the intensity every now and then.

So, instead of running the same route at the same speed change it up. Change your route every now and then and change your speed.

You can actually change your speed during your run, you don’t have to run at a certain pace for one week and then the next week run at a different pace. Instead, run at varying speeds during each run to maximize your results.

4. Stay hydrated during and after your run. If you are running for more than 20 minutes you should take some water with you. Of course, make sure you only run in safe places. Don’t run too close to traffic (the exhaust fumes aren’t good for you either) run only in populated well lit areas, etc. Common sense.

5. Another thing you can do is to run hilly courses. This can be another way to change up your workouts. So, just find some hilly areas and add that to your regular running course.

So, if you are running weight loss follow these tips. Just make sure to talk to your doctor first to make sure you are healthy enough to run.

Rapid Weight Gain-Holidays Season Downer

If you have recently experienced rapid weight gain you may be a little confused and not quite sure what to do.

Rapid weight gain can be a sign of many things and you do need to get to the bottom of the weight gain and see what you may be able to do to reverse the trend.

The first thing you do need to do is to stop and be 100% honest with yourself. Make sure that that “unexpected” weight gain truly is happening for no apparent reason.

It is very easy to slow down on your workout routine or start eating a little more without being totally aware of it.

Before you panic, make sure that you haven’t fallen into that trap.

If you can honestly say that your weight gain has nothing to do with some lifestyle changes that you didn’t realize you were making, then your next step should be to visit your doctor.

If you are gaining weight for no apparent reason, you should make an appointment with your doctor.

It is very possible that you are experiencing a weight gain because of some hormonal imbalance.

If that is the case, it may be fairly easy to reverse the trend. Of course, you will still need to do the things necessary to lose the weight you have already gained, but at least you won’t continue to gain weight.

One of the most common reasons for an unexpected weight gain is hypothyroidism.

This condition is caused by an under active thyroid gland which can translate into a weight gain for no apparent reason.

The good news is that if this is what is going on your doctor can easily detect it with a blood test.

This condition is generally easy to treat and will require you to take medications that will help stabilize your thyroid function.

These medications are only about $4 a month for the generic so cost won’t be a big issue either.

So, if you do find that you have hypothyroidism, you can curtail the unexplained weight gain.

Now, it is time to lose whatever excess weight your condition has caused you to gain.

That too can be fairly easy. To lose weight you simply need to take in fewer calories than you burn during the day.

You can basically accomplish this in two ways: eat fewer calories, or burn more calories.

Both of these things will allow you to lose weight.

Since we all know that our bodies need many different nutrients to function at a high level and since we also know that keeping our body moving and getting exercise helps it stay strong, it only makes sense to combine both diet and exercise in any weight loss plan.

The bottom line is this; if you have an unexpected weight gain it is most likely nothing very serious and your doctor can diagnose it for you.

Once you know the reason behind rapid weight gain than all you have to do is make a few changes to lose the weight you’ve already gained.

Atkins Criticism

The Atkins diet is very popular, but it also comes with a lot of criticism. Health experts, doctors and diet specialists come from all different opinions when it comes to the Atkins diet and other low carb diets. Some believe that it is dangerous, some say that it is a healthy method to lose weight and others say that it works on a short-term basis.

However, there are also thousands of individuals who have found success with the Atkins diet. They can speak from personal experience and know that the diet works and it is an effective means of keeping weight off. There are thousands of testimonials that tout the benefits of the low carb way of living.

There are many typical criticisms of the Atkins diet. One of the first is that the diet it too high in fat. The butter, oil and fatty meats that are used in the Atkins diet are a far cry from the low-fat diet fad that recently swept the nation. For many people, the low fat mindset has prevailed and they cannot fathom eating real butter or cream with their meals. It seems like too much fat at first glance. However, those that pay close attention to Dr. Atkins guidelines and follow the program closely know that the diet focuses on good fats. Extra virgin olive oil and other helpful fats are emphasized. The proper use of these oils is important to brain function and mood management.

Another popular Atkins criticism is that it focuses too much on food and not enough on exercise. This is an unfair claim because the Atkins books clearly spell out a need for exercise. There is a lot of attention paid to food choices because they are an integral part of the program, and they are different foods than what people are normally used to eating. However, this does not mean that exercise is not an integral part of the Atkins program. Aerobic and anaerobic exercise regimens are encouraged, and both will greatly increase your weight loss efforts.

Many Atkins critics feel that the diet is hard too keep up in the long term. Critics in this category will admit that Atkins is effective in short-term weight loss efforts, but point out that the lifestyle is hard to maintain over time. However, people who have had long term success with Atkins claim it is one of the easiest diets to follow for significant periods of time. The Atkins plan has rich food that is forbidden on other programs, and it has appetite-suppressing effects. When you combine this with the quick weight loss, a motivating factor for many people, Atkins is easy to stick to long term.

The side effects of Atkins, like constipation and bad breath, have also been a topic that Atkins critics are quick to point out. However, these side effects are not as common as critics make them out to be. If they do occur, the side effects normal only last through the first phase of the diet. Additionally, drinking additional water will normally take care of both problems rather quickly.

There are pros and cons to many diets. If you don’t particularly enjoy preparing and eating meat, then Atkins is probably not for you. But if you are considering Atkins, make sure to look beyond the common criticisms for the truth about the diet.

Low Calorie Diets

One thing that many people do when they are trying to lose weight is to find low calorie diets. This may not be a bad idea but it is only one element of weight loss and you need to keep reading to make sure you don’t shortchange yourself.

There are some common misconceptions about losing weight and that is why so many people are disappointed when they rely solely on low calorie diets.

To illustrate what I mean, let me tell you a little story. Earlier this year, I decided to get serious about losing some extra weight. I don’t have a lot of weight that I need to lose, just about 15 lbs. but I have had a hard time getting motivated.

A friend of mine introduced me to a diet plan. This plan was tailored to my needs and my body type. It included an eating plan. The plan called for 6 small meals a day.

The first few days I had a hard time finishing all the food in the diet plan! I couldn’t believe that this was supposed to be a diet! I was sure that I was going to gain weight and not lose it.

But, at the end of one week I got on the scale and realized that I had actually lost 10 lbs.! Yep, you heard me right… after one week of “dieting” I had lost 10 lbs.

There are several reasons for this:

1. For one thing, even though I was eating a lot of food I was eating very low calorie and high nutrition foods. That means that I was providing my body all the nutrients it needed to keep my energy levels high and I was doing it with quality, nutritious foods.

By providing my body with all it needed I was giving myself the best chance to stay healthy.

2. This diet was designed to provide my body not only with high nutrition foods, but also with foods that filled me up. Some foods just make you feel satisfied more quickly than others.

When you eat these types of foods you won’t want to eat as much yet you will still feel full and you will be giving your body the nutrients that it needs.

3. And one other thing is that by eating the best types of foods and keeping my body well fed, I was able to have enough energy to get through my day (and my workout). Some very low calorie diets just don’t provide your body with the nutrients it needs so you don’t feel like getting any exercise.

In order to see the results you want you will need to combine a proper eating plan with some daily exercise. If your caloric intake is too low your body will not have the energy necessary to get some exercise.

Very often low calorie diets are somewhat short sighted. Starving yourself is not the best way (or even an effective way) to lose weight. Any weight loss efforts need to be a permanent part of your life if you want to keep the weight off. Will you really be able to stick with that ultra low calorie eating plan from this point on?
